Kendall has been asking to take dance class since she was two years old. Two. She loves to dance and plays dance class at home all the time. We didn't start before now for several reasons, but mainly because we just weren't ready to jump into all the busy-ness of having lots of activities and commitments so early. When she was three, Randy told her that when she was four she could go to dance class. Since she's about to turn five at the beginning of February, we decided a good Christmas present would be getting to start dance in January - while she's still barely four.
I did some research on dance studios and found a ballet/tap combo class that is 45 minutes and meets on Monday evenings. Her friend Jillian is in that class and the studio is owned and led by Christians, so we can trust their music, dance and costume choices.
I went to talk about enrolling her starting in January, and the owner said they are getting costume measurements this month for the recital that is at the end of the year. She offered to let Kendall come to class this past Monday night, see how she liked it, and then get her measurements if we decided it was something we wanted to pick up in January.
Kendall was SO EXCITED! We had all the clothes she needed from hand-me-downs, and we borrowed some ballet and tap shoes from friends. If this worked out and we decided to go for it, we had talked about getting her ballet and tap shoes as Christmas presents. Check out this excited girl the night of her class!
When we got to the studio, we were pretty early, so Kendall got to check out the dance room and play around for a little bit. That helped her warm up and feel comfortable before class.

Cooper was so excited to go watch Kendall at dance class. She told us that she was going to clap for Kendall while she danced. We watched her through this window the whole time and Kendall liked getting to see that we were still there. :)
She really did a great job in class! She listened well and was able to follow along well. And she had so much fun! They did ballet for the first part, then changed their shoes and finished with tap. She said tap was her favorite part of the class! We really liked her teacher, too. She really did well with that age level (4-5) and made it fun and easy to understand for them. We are really looking forward to starting back after Christmas!
