Rooms are Finished!

I was so excited to finish all the little details in Calli's room over the weekend! We hung the letters Val and Gigi made her for Christmas and love the way they look over her bed. We also hung the puzzle picture and I just love looking at it.
We decided for now to leave the side off the crib and just see how she is most comfortable sleeping when she gets home. In her bed is the Chinese doll the girls and I got her, the Build-A-Bear dog Val and her girls got, and the teddy bear Aunt Maegan got her for Christmas.

More of her things in the window - her baby book, a few other books, the "Little Sister" shirt I got her that matches a couple of "Big Sister" shirts the girls have, her Tiny Toms from Pops and Kiki for Christmas, the purse Randy bought her in Cambodia, and a soft photo album I made with pictures of Randy, Kendall, Cooper and me in it to take with us to China.

Not sure if we'll need the changing table or not. A lot of times children in foster care and orphanages in China are potty-trained early. We'll see!
Cooper and Kendall sleep together every night now. I only separate them for naptime because Cooper actually needs to nap and Kendall just has rest time, reading books in bed. So here is their room they share!

This pictures is not great at all - I was just using my phone, but one side of the dresser has Cooper's things and one side has Kendall's. The picture in the middle is of Kendall, Cooper, Gracie and Evy.

We hung their baby pictures on the wall above and below their initial.

So as far as rooms go, we're all situated! Just ready to bring that sweet third baby home! Look for an update soon on where we are in the process over at our adoption blog: www.secureinhope.blogspot.com.

Kendall's School Birthday

Yesterday was the February birthday party day at Kendall's school! The school plans one day each month to celebrate all the birthdays, and they have cupcakes with their snack that day. The birthday kids get to wear a special hat and their class sings Happy Birthday to them. So fun!
Cooper was very excited to get to go to sister's school for snack time. And Kendall loved getting to show her off!

I love Kendall's little class - there are only 6 of them in the 2-day a week class. Sweet friends - some that she has been with for four years now! This is the other girl in her class that had a February birthday.
Goofy kids - Connor is her best friend and one of the ones she has been with for four years. They will go to different schools for Kindergarten, so we are soaking up these last few months with him in the same class! We have actually started picking him up to bring him to school with us. Yesterday morning I dropped them off at 9, went and ran some errands, and came back for snack time at 9:45. 45 minutes later. When I walked in, Connor said, "Hey! Remember that time when I rode with you to school??" Yes Connor - 45 minutes ago. :)
Fun times at school!! We love Wee Place!

Kendall's 5 yr Check-up

Kendall had her five year old check-up today with Dr. B! She looked so big before we were leaving that I had to take her picture. This was one of the dresses she got from Pops and Kiki for her birthday, and she asked for a side ponytail "like Brynlee." She loves Brynlee Beams, and all three Beams kids and talks about them a lot - she misses them since they moved to Japan! She is already asking about getting to go to Cow Creek with them again this summer.
Also, she drew a picture for Dr. B and wrote a note to him: "I am glad you are my doctor. Kendall."
She had a vision and hearing screening done and checked out great on both! She is 47 lbs and 46.5 inches tall - 95% on height and 90% on weight! Still tall for her age!
She did a great job talking with Dr. B and doing all the things he asked her to do. He said she has great coordination! One of the two things we wanted to bring up with him was her diet - we told him she still doesn't eat meat. He said, "Well, she's just a vegetarian!" We told him, no, she's really a fruit-itarian. She eats breakfast bars, yogurt and fruit. And he said, "And there's nothing you can really do about it! She's healthy - I just told you she was in the 95th percentile for weight and height!" He asked about whether or not we're giving her a multi-vitamin - we said yes. He was not concerned at all. My new goal is to get her to eat peanut butter. She refuses it in a sandwich, but of course will eat reese's cups like nobody's business! Other than that, we're just not worrying about it. She's doing great and the few things she does eat are all healthy. So no big deal!
I love this picture of the two of them! They love sharing a room and are so sweet to each other. I was telling Randy earlier today that anytime Cooper gets hurt or is upset, "Sis-er" is the first person she asks for. :) Love our two girls who are growing like crazy!!

Oliver Stephen Davis

Our new nephew was born on February 5, the day after Kendall's fifth birthday! Valerie labored all day Tuesday and then we got a call at about midnight Tuesday night that there had been complications with his delivery. When he was born he was not breathing, but the nurses quickly got him on the ventilator and then he was transported to Cook's Children's Hospital in Ft. Worth. Valerie was rushed into emergency surgery because she was losing a lot of blood. We were up all night getting updates and praying for them, and finally decided to just pack up, load the girls up, and drive to Ft. Worth at around 4:30 Wednesday morning.
Valerie's surgery was successful and she has had a great recovery. Ollie has been in the nicu at Cook's and is making good progress! All of his brain scans are coming back completely normal and he is doing great! We were hoping he would be coming home this week  but it is looking like maybe next week now. He came off the oxygen for awhile but then needed to go back on because he wasn't keeping his numbers high enough on his own. We are so thankful for him and can't wait to get back to be able to hold him!
These girls were excited about their new cousin! They sang Happy Birthday and had some cookie cake for his birthday!

Randy and I got to go to Cook's to visit him! This was when he was still on a cooling blanket so we weren't able to hold him, but we could touch him. He was 9lbs 14 oz when he was born and just about two days later he was 11lbs 4 oz! He has lost some of that weight from fluid now.
"Hey Ollie!! We're ready to play with you!"
We got to have lots of girl cousin time! Randy, Michelle and I took all four girls to Chick fil A so Gigi and Peeps could get some rest.

I have tried to upload more pictures, but blogger is being weird. Val has lots more pictures on her facebook page - you can see him without his oxygen, with his eyes open, and being held by both his big sisters! We are so thankful for how God is taking care of him. Welcome to the world sweet Oliver!

Our Valentines

We have had a fun week celebrating Valentines with our sweet girls! Tuesday Kendall wore one of her new birthday outfits from Aunt Maegan and her new converse high tops to school. Love it!
The girls got a Valentine's Day present from Kiki and Pops! Stickers, hot chocolate, candy and "marties!!" (Smarties - their favorite treat from Pops!)

Granny and Papas sent a package of Valentine's decorations! We put everything up on Sunday and the house has been so festive all week!

Wednesday night we had dinner at the Hendersons with the Mitterlings. It was great to hang out and also Mary brought stuff for the kids to decorate cookies! Cooper mainly loved the icing.

Kendall had a party today at school and came home very excited about that. Michelle even came by to give the girls a present - cake balls!! When Randy came home from work, he had presents for all three of us! Then we told the girls that we were taking them on a date - to Chick fil A and Brew n Bake! They were pretty excited.

Chick fil A!
And Brew n Bake! This is a local coffee shop and bakery and the girls felt so grown up going there. They both got ice cream.

Randy and I shared chocolate pie!
So thankful for all my Valentines, but mostly him! He takes such good care of us and I love how he makes the girls (and me!) feel special. Happy Valentine's Day!!

Kendall's Ft. Worth Party!

We knew we would be heading to Ft. Worth close to Kendall's birthday to see Baby Oliver, so we went ahead and planned a party for her there too so we could celebrate with all our family there! Turning five is a big deal! Granny and Papas offered to host the party and it was so much fun. Again, just easy and nice to see everyone and celebrate our big five year old!
We kept with the Strawberry Shortcake theme. Granny got the cutest cake!

 Sweet party girls!
All our parents, my Granny, Grandma and Grandpa, Alden and Maegan, Gracie and Evy, Brenda, Kathy, Frank, Emily and her kids were there. We had so much fun seeing everyone and Kendall loved it!

Kendall was probably most excited about getting to open more presents! Cooper also did a great job helping out.

Trying on sister's new rain boots!

We were surprised to discover a new rule to our family's "rabbit" game - five year olds get to participate! The rabbit is a long-running family joke - someone (we think we know who) wrapped it and gave it to us as a gift for our wedding. Like just put it on the gift table with no card. We think it was pay backs for a prank Randy pulled. Anyway, Randy and I started leaving it at my Dad and Lisa's in hidden spots and when they would find it they would try and slip it back to us without us knowing. It has turned up in some pretty funny places over the last ten years. We have since included Alden and Scott and Maegan, but this was the first time Kendall got it. Now it will be her turn to find a place to hide it!

 Singing Happy Birthday!

All the kids at the table finished their cake and got up and went back to playing, but our committed Cooper was still sitting there working on her cake and ice cream! She's not going to let food go to waste! :)

Coloring with Great Granny. So thankful we got to see her!
We are so thankful for all our family who loves our girls! And we are always thankful when we get to be together. We love you guys!
And this concludes the week and a half of Kendall's birthday celebration! Five looks like it's going to be a pretty good year!
