One of my favorite things to watch is Calli being a little mama. We prayed so much before we knew Calli and before she was ours that whoever the baby was that God had for us, that she would be well-cared for, that she would be loved well, and that she would be learning how to attach and receive love. We knew when we received her file that our prayers had been answered, we knew even more when she was finally ours, but we have seen more and more over the past year just how well-loved she was. One of the ways this is very evident to me is in the way she loves and cares for babies younger than her, and for how she cares for her babies. She learned how to do this because she was shown this kind of concern and affection, and we could not be more thankful.
We were able to have a friend's new baby come over for a little while one day a few weeks ago. She was crying at one point, and Calli was so bothered by it! She wanted to figure out a way to make that baby happy! These pictures aren't great, because I was trying to hold and take care of Bethany and snap them at the same time, but I just thought her expression was so sweet!
Look at her little eyebrows! She was very concerned and wanted to give Bethany her sass so she would be happy. :)
Another day, she came and got me and took me to her room to show me this: she had put her baby bed, on her pillow, put her blanket and robe on her, and set up her books and drink, just like we do for her. It is just so precious to me how she is so loving!!
Giving her baby a night-night kiss.
So proud!
And, you can see in this picture that we started potty training! We started about a month ago and it took all of about one day! She picked it up so quickly and now is completely out of diapers - even at naptime and bedtime! She is the only little girl in our family who doesn't sleep in a pull-up....we are amazed!! Kendall and Cooper just sleep so hard, so we think this is an advantage to Calli being a light sleeper. For whatever reason....we are excited!!
