While Dad's Away...

Randy went to Seattle in the middle of July from a Friday to a Wednesday. Our church is helping to support a new church plant there, so he took several people on a vision trip to find out some ways that we can better support them in the future. We missed him bunches but kept very busy while he was gone!
Greg, Steve and Michael were on the trip too, so we spent a lot of time with Kathy, Debbie, and Noelle, who came down for part of the time to stay with Kathy. And of course, baby Haddon! The girls are just obsessed with him and loved any chance they got to hold him, tickle him, and talk to him.

One night, Debbie and Micaela went to Cherry Berry with us for a treat.
Monday morning we went and got donuts before Calli had to be at speech. Each of the girls got to pick one, except Kendall, who won't even try them, so I brought her usual waffle for her to eat. Crazy girlie.

After speech that morning, we went to the library to return some books and log more hours in the summer reading club. Kendall hit over 15 hours of reading, so she got a medal and was so very proud of it. She still had just one front tooth here, but since then she has lost that one!
Randy is so thoughtful and is always blowing me away with the things he thinks of and plans for. He told me before he left that he had arranged for a sitter to come on Monday night and for me to have a date night with Michelle! Monday was the mid-way point, so it was nice to have a break from bedtime routines and get out of the house and to spend some time with just Michelle! We went to Grape Taste for dinner and then went and walked on the jetties because neither of us had ever done that. It was such a fun night!

Tuesday we had a fun surprise! Randy's cousin Kasey, her husband Rob, and their kids Henry and Kate came in town for the day! They were on a crazy long road trip and were driving through Houston, so they decided to come south a little and meet Calli and go to the beach! It was so much fun to see them because they live in Maryland, so usually when we're in Ft. Worth, they aren't, and vice versa. The kids had fun playing together, they were able to do a load of laundry, and they even brought pancakes and Starbucks. Win! We were just sad Randy wasn't there to see them.

Tuesday afternoon after they left, we drove over to Galveston to see Holly and the kids and also to see Alden and Scott. I took the kids to the beach while Holly and Aaron went and closed on their new house. They played so well together, I was even able to sit and read my book a little! Sweet friends.
Alden and Scott had brought their youth group down to do some block parties for Coastal in Galveston. We surprised them by showing up to one of the block parties that they had at the park close to Holly and Aaron's new house. Check out that cute baby bump!
The girls were in heaven at the block party. Face painting, sno cones, popcorn, jewelry making, playing on the playground, and bounce houses. So fun!
This picture was taken right as we were leaving and they were not happy about it. They were so worn out though, we still had an hour drive home, and I was pretty worn out too from a busy week! They crashed on the way home and Cooper didn't even wake up once we got there. I put her straight in bed. It was so fun to get to see Alden and Scott!

The girls were so excited to see Daddy when he got home Wednesday, and so was I! We miss him when he is gone. He went to work Thursday, but Friday when everyone woke up, he made donut holes for the girls! Cooper and Calli are his helpers and they love to roll the dough and then help me coat them with sugar and cinnamon after Randy cooks them. Such a fun dad! We are  glad he is home!
