Kendall met a huge goal earlier this month. She made the reading team at school! Her school uses a program called Accelerated Reader, where the students can check out books in their level range, read them, and then take a comprehension test over them to earn points. The books Kendall is reading right now are half a point, and if you get a 100 on the test, you get the whole half point. If you get an 80, you get .4, etc. She has been reading so well and grown so much already this year. Her goal has been to make the reading team for first grade, which means that you have to have 25 points, and read books in several different genres. Once you do this, you get a t-shirt, get to be honored on the announcements, and get to go to a reading team party at the end of school. She worked so hard all fall, was almost there before Christmas, and finally made her points a couple weeks after school started back in January. She was the first one in her class and she was so proud of that! We are so proud of how motivated she has been and love that she is enjoying reading. She has now read and been tested on 57 books! Now that she has made reading team, the points she has can be used to buy things in the AR store. Her book level keeps getting harder and harder and she is doing great! So proud of our little reader!
While we were all there for the announcements, Cooper wanted to show Randy how she shelves books on Tuesdays and Thursdays while Calli is in speech. She is such a good librarian!
We're so proud of all your hard work, Kendall!
