Kendall's Baptism!

We had Kendall's baptism on May 2nd, at the Mitterling's house and it was such a special day! So many friends and family came to celebrate with us and it was just such a wonderful time for our family. Kendall stepped over the line of faith on February 9th, and has been so excited about her baptism, asking us almost daily when it would be. We were thankful to find a weekend when all three of our families were able to come down, and one that worked for us and for the Mitts. Kendall told everyone she knew - everyone she even just saw! - that she was getting baptized and just couldn't wait. She wanted to plan it like we plan her birthday parties - what are we going to eat, what will we do, the whole nine yards. When I asked her what she wanted to have there, the first thing she said was chocolate covered strawberries. Random! But ok - we made it happen. Also, cupcakes, cookies, and brownies. Lemonade and water. Coke and Mountain Dew for the grown ups. She even said, "And Mom, since it's my baptism, can I have a drink of Coke, too?" Such easy things to say yes to and help make her know just how special she was and how special this day was. :)

Almost all of Kendall's grandparents were there (Papas wasn't able to be there), Aunt Val, Gracie, Evy, and Oliver, Aunt Auggie and Stephen, and even Mamaw was able to come. We had a fun weekend!
Randy began by sharing what he had read in John that morning about when Jesus was baptized, sharing about Kendall and her decision, and sharing the Gospel and what baptism is. So many of Kendall's friends from school and church were there and we were so thankful about how excited she was to share with them!

Then he had me read a letter that we wrote to Kendall back when she was a baby, telling her the life verse that we had chosen for her, and what our hopes and prayers are for her life. I was pretty emotional, so thankful to see God's hand on our baby's life and so hopeful for what He will do with her! It was very meaningful for us.
Then we both baptized her! She was not nervous at all, like we thought she would be with so many people coming to just watch her. It is evidence to us of God's work in her life that she was so excited to share her decision through her baptism.

So very thankful!
Kendall received several special gifts from our family and from her friends. Her kindergarten teacher, Ms. Woodward, was there, as well as her current teacher, Ms. Tiller. Ms. Tiller gave her a precious card, and had gone to her parent's house and chosen one of the angels that she collected growing up to give to Kendall as a gift. So, so precious and something that is very special to Kendall. Ms. Tiller is a very special part of her story.

I forgot to get a picture of the desserts before we started, but here are some of them. Including chocolate covered strawberries with sprinkles! :)

Our children's minister, Kathy, was out of town and not able to be there, but our elementary coordinator, Ms. Cindy, came and gave Kendall a certificate from the church, as well as a devotional book. Very sweet!
Since all our family was in, and it was right before dinner, after everyone left we just went and picked up dinner and stayed and ate it at the Mitts while the kids swam. It was such a great night and one that I will always remember! Holly and Aaron and their family even came over from Galveston, so they stayed to eat with us and we loved hanging out.

Our Cooper loves that spaghetti!

We are so thankful for our sweet family who came for the weekend. Even though it was a busy three days, it was important for them all to be there and we are very thankful!

I know that was a lot of picture, but it was just such a special night. We are so thankful that the Mitterlings hosted us and let us stay for dinner. They are our friends who are family and we love them and love that they are such a big part of Kendall's baptism.
Matthew 6:33 "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be added to you as well."
