We had a fun day celebrating one year with Calli Faith! We want this day each year to be a big celebration and a time for our family to remember how God placed Calli in our family. This year we celebrated by going out to eat Chinese food and then having cake and opening her present with friends. Michelle and the Pickerings met us for dinner and we had fun celebrating with them.
Calli and Cooper and I worked a lot of the morning, making this Strawberry Lemonade Cake from scratch. It was a two-layer cake and the layers kind of wouldn't come out of the pans, so it's kind of a mess - but it tasted great!
The girls insisted that we sing and have a candle, so we put one candle on the cake and sang "Happy Gotcha Day to you!" Calli loved it. She just watched us, smiling and laughing. So fun.
While we were in China, we bought 18 gifts to give Calli on each of her Gotcha Days. It was fun to look back through them this past week and pick out which one we wanted to give her this year. We picked out a cute little fish purse we found in Guangzhou.
