Swimming Lessons!

Kendall had a week of swimming lessons with Mrs. Carol last week! We love Mrs. Carol and she is just great with the kids and with Kendall. She went five days in a row, for 30 minutes each day and it was a private lesson so she had total individual attention and made a ton of progress! This year was such a change from last year - thankfully! Last year she didn't want to get in the water and cried a lot-but here she was on the first day of lessons this year!
She got right in the water every day, listened so well to Mrs. Carol, and even wore her goggles! We were so stinkin proud of her everyday! A year makes a lot of difference!
She remembered what she learned from last year - big scoops called "chocolate and vanilla," she learned to point and pull, she did the frog kick, she floated, bicycled (treaded water in the deep end), and she blew out air to dive down to the bottom of the pool for toys. She was awesome at everything!

One thing we were so impressed with was how much she was listening to and remembering at one time. Carol taught her to frog kick while she pointed and pulled and while she came up for breath when she needed it. Good coordination!
Carol was so impressed that she was only four! She kept telling us that she was doing things 4 year olds usually can't do and that she couldn't believe she isn't starting kindergarten in the fall. She is so big!
Cooper went with me everyday and was great - she played around the pool and had fun watching her sister. I worried a little about how she would do, but it was easy and fun!

On the last day, Carol said she wanted to see if Kendall could swim the length of the pool. She had been practicing with her just back and forth across the width of the pool all week, but she felt like she was a strong enough swimmer and was getting good enough at coming up for air that she could do the whole length. She got a little tired at the end, but she made it!! Carol said she's never had a four year old that could do that. We think we have a natural swimmer on our hands!
The biggest focus all week was coming up for quick breaths of air and then putting her face back in and keeping on. She listened well, did what Mrs. Carol asked her to do, and she is doing great at it!
Now we just need to keep practicing with her and keep her in the water! We are so proud of our little swimmer!

  1. Way to go Kendall! It sounds like she did amazing. She needs to teach Madison how to come up for air and go back under. She has not mastered that yet. Maybe we need to do lessons again. We can't wait to see yall.
