Last week we went to story time and to the fountains for the first time this summer! The library has story time every Tuesday morning, but that is when Kendall is in school so we don't usually go during the year. Now that school is over though, we were free and the girls were excited to go! The library does a great job - they read stories, sing songs, and then there is always a craft to go with the theme. Kendall and Cooper grabbed a carpet square and went and sat down, but then they were pretty nervous the whole time. They never wanted to stand up and do any of the songs. Oh well - maybe as the summer goes on they'll get more into it.
Calli sat in her stroller back next to me in the chairs. That lasted about 10 minutes. And then she wanted OUT and wanted to walk around and explore. So I chased her around the room most of the time, but it was so crowded and there were so many preschool aged kids that it really wasn't too much of a distraction. A few times she went out to where the big girls were, but she mostly kept moving the whole time.
Kendall looks like she might be in pain that all these other kids are up dancing, singing and having fun and she wants no part of it. Ha!
Story time lasted about 45 minutes and then we went and picked out books and movies. After that, we went out to the car to get their "swim soups" on and walked over to the fountains. Kendall ran right in, but Calli and Cooper were a little more cautious.
Playing at the fountains didn't last long. Calli and Cooper weren't too interested, there wasn't much shade to stand in, and it was HOT! I'm not sure we'll be doing that too much more - there is another splash pad in Richwood that is next to a park and has a covered pavilion for shade. I think we'll try that one out next. It was a fun morning and then we ALL took great naps!
