Ruby Jewel Dane, 79, cherished mother, grandmother and friend, died peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, after a long journey with Alzheimer's.
Ruby was born Jan. 28, 1935, to Henry and Jewel Ridlehoover in Tioga, Texas. She worked in banking for over 30 years and retired from Wells Fargo in 1998 (Central Bank & Trust on Roesdale – motor bank). Ruby enjoyed many things, her church and Sunday school class (NRHBC), garage sales (going to them and having them – featuring items), walking (the NRHBC track with sweet Maxine), traveling (Europe, Israel, Colorado – adventure, Mark’s bear story), but nothing more than her family. She was an awesome example of mother and grandmother. The best this world will ever know.
Her generous spirit and gentle soul, mixed with her fiery personality and sparkling sense of humor will be forever missed. Our loss is heaven's gain. Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Ervin Dane; daughter,
Kathy Dickey; her parents; five brothers; and one sister. Survivors: Son, Mike Dane and wife, Anita; son, Mark Dane and wife, Lydia; daughter, Brenda Krantz and husband, Wayne; her nine favorite grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.
Grandma has fought a long battle with Alzheimers and she passed away on October 25, Mike's 60th birthday. Randy flew to Ft. Worth that night, and then the girls and I drove up the next day after church, after it was decided when the funeral would be. The visitation was Monday night and the funeral was Tuesday afternoon. Randy officiated the funeral again, and he did such a wonderful job honoring his precious Grandma. It was good to see all of the family and spend some time together.
Look! A picture with all the cousins and everyone is looking!
Lots of Grandma's great-grandkids!
All of her grandkids, except Andy.
And, since we were all together and dressed up, a family picture!
Losing two grandparents two weeks apart made for a rough month for Randy, and especially for his parents. Even though there was a lot of traveling and it was busy, it was good to be with our families and honor his grandparents. We are hoping for a little bit calmer November, though!
