Kendall's Piano Recital

Kendall started taking piano this fall, and she is really enjoying it so far! Also, I love listening to her practice, especially when it came time for her to learn some Christmas songs. Her teacher planned a recital in December for Christmas, and then there will also be one at the end of the school year, but then she got assigned to federal jury duty for three weeks and had to cancel the recital this month! Kendall was pretty disappointed, but we told her that we would just have our own recital and she could invite her friends to come hear her songs. She was excited about that! We planned it for a Friday night, when Granny and Papas were planning to come down, and we had it at the church. Kendall practiced a ton, and also started inviting everyone she knew at school. :) It was very sweet - her teacher came from first grade as well as from this year, the Mitterlings, the Erskines, Greg, Erin Martin, and our family.
Before the recital, I talked with her about how she needed to introduce her songs, tell the audience thank you for coming, and invite them to have some refreshments when it was over. She was most nervous about the speaking parts - more than the playing. But she did great and we were so proud of her! She played three songs - Away in a Manger, Joyful Joyful, and Go Tell It On The Mountain. The first two were by memory, and the last one was a special request from Calli and she needed to use her music for that one.

She requested pumpkin chocolate chip muffins and hot chocolate for her refreshments. Very specific. :)
Kendall, we are so proud of your hard work and think you are picking piano up so well! Way to go!
